About

I have always been interested in my roots, but until the late 1990s I was satisfied with being told I was of German, English and French descent.  A handful of events triggered me to start poking around in 1999 and 2000.  By the next year, I really began to research.  (I’ve yet to find any evidence of French ancestry, by the way.)

For the first few years, I logged many, many hours of research and was able to collect so much information that I still have not fully processed all of the notes or photocopies.  Now days, I’m lucky to get out and research more than a few times each year.

This blog, formerly at Blogspot, serves as a way for me to provide updates about my genealogy research, what’s going on with this site and links to interesting genealogy articles or posts by other bloggers.

My genealogy information was also originally elsewhere — RootsWeb — but I outgrew their free service and wanted more control and flexibility over the presentation of my research.  I also have a “skeleton” family tree at Ancestry.com (Show-Me Family Tree).
